Review: The Hair Heroes Edit | Cult Christmas Gift Boxes

The Cult Beauty Advent Calendar sold out so quickly many of us were disappointed. It was one of the best calendars out there with good quality products and amazing value. It is time to get cheery again though, as Cult just released their Cult Beauty Christmas Edit Gift Boxes. Each box has only one category of products which is such an amazing idea. There is a box on skincare, makeup, body and hair respectively. This review will look at the haircare box, The Hair Heroes Edit. The contents of it are shocking…

£25 worth over £89

Shampoo

There are two shampoos in the Hair Heroes Box. Firstly, there is The Living Proof PhD Shampoo which comes in 60ml and is worth £10. This is a paraben, phthalate, sulfate and silicone free shampoo. It is suitable for chemically treated hair and is safe for coloured hair as well.

The second shampoo is the Davines OI Shampoo which comes in 90ml worth £11. Davines is a professional brand, often used in hair salons. I love their products and they really suit my fine, coloured hair.

Masks

In terms of masks, there is the Briogeo Don’t despair, repair! Deep conditioning hair mask in 30ml, worth £8.50. This is another high end brand for hair that has a lot of loved and popular products. This mask does not have sulfates, silicones or parabens. It is intensively hydrating. Deep conditioning is essential from time to time especially to people that have dyed or chemically treated hair.

Another deep conditioning mask is the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer. This product is present in a lot of beauty advent calendars this year. In the Cult Hair Heroes Edit box it comes in 40ml which is worth £10. It contains protein, oils and glycerin in order to deeply moisturise your hair and increase its elasticity.

We also have a leave in conditioner which helps to detangle the hair and keep it hydrated and smooth for longer. The Innersense Sweet Spirit Leave In Conditioner comes in 59ml and is worth £9. This is in a spray format.

Treatments

There is also an Olaplex product which is amazing in my opinion. Olaplex is another professional high end brand that delivers unique hair treatment. The Cult Hair Heroes Edit Box contains the No 6 Bond Smoother in 30ml which is worth £7.80. This product is intended to be used after shampoo and conditioner. It is a bond smoother, which smooths out the broken bonds in the hair. These are caused by chemical, mechanical or thermal damage. Olaplex is another brand that I love and recommend. I would suggest you read all directions and information from Olaplex before using the product, in order to understand best how to use it.

Another treatment that we have in this box is The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Scalp Treatment in 50ml which is worth £12. This is a product that exfoliates and that you apply only on your scalp. Recently I have used more scalp treatments and I have seen an improvement. Scalp exfoliators and serums help with excess sebum, with the dryness of your scalp and they can also potentially help with hair growth. Therefore, I think this would be a nice item to try. However, it is applied directly on the delicate skin of the scalp, so be mindful of any irritant ingredients. This product does contain Sodium Hydroxide which could sensitize skin.

Styling

There are also two styling items in the Cult Hair Heroes Box. There is the Virtue One for All In-One Styler in 15ml worth £4.25. This product contains keratin which is a protein that helps with damaged hair. This treats the hair while it also provides hold.

There is also the Captain Blankenship Golden Waves Sea Salt Shimmer Spray in 59ml worth £14. This is a spray that gives texture and shimmer to your hair. I think this is a fun item to try.

Tools

Lastly, there is the Wet-Brush Pro Pop Fold Brush in rose gold which is worth around £9. This is a brush that folds and detangles hair.

EXPERIENCE

The Cult Hair Heroes Edit Box has a beautiful design with orange, pink and navy blue. The brands included are expensive and some are very popular, offering beauty lovers many exciting items.

There are ten hair products in the box, most in generous sizes which will allow you to use these products for a while.

THE CONCEPT

It is refreshing to see a concept like this, instead of seeing mixed boxes with a bit of everything. The Cult Beauty Christmas Edit Gift Boxes are divided into categories, which makes them easy to match according to interest. If someone is more interested in haircare, then they can purchase only haircare products.

My biggest complaint with the beauty advent calendars for 2020 is that they have a huge majority of skincare items and that their product ranges are not diversified enough. Some people might prefer more haircare in their calendar, or perhaps more makeup and are not interested in skincare. These Cult Beauty Christmas Gift Edit Boxes allow you to choose the items you want. You can skip one or the other sections, and receive items only for the purpose you want.

If you are sad to have missed the Cult Beauty Advent Calendar you can purchase these boxes, focusing only on the categories you want to receive. The Cult Edit boxes are reasonably priced so that you can mix and match your favourite boxes and add up towards a personalised advent. This could be your new advent calendar!

I adore the concept, I think it is original and well thought of. You can now choose exactly what you want in an almost DIY calendar! These are easier to gift as well as they are divided into categories. Therefore, if you know someone that is interested in treating and styling their hair, you can buy the box containing only haircare.

IS IT WORTH IT?

This box is the best out of all in my opinion. It contains some amazing professional products which come in generous enough sizes for just £25! The Cult Hair Heroes Edit Box offers shampoo, masks, leave-in conditioners, treatments, styling products and a hair brush. This is a beautiful set that contains some exquisite choices. I am glad they skipped hair spray or dry shampoo.  They focused instead on treatments for the hair. The health of the hair is the most important, especially in winter when our hair might need some extra help.

The choice of products is amazing, the sizes are generous enough for you to enjoy the items for a while. I cannot believe this box costs only £25! With a total value of £89, you get your money’s worth three and a half times!

If you are a person that takes good care of their hair or struggles with certain issues from dying or styling your hair regularly, then this box is a fantastic choice! Winter is a time when our hair is under more stress than usual. There is a lot of friction from clothes, the cold air and changes in temperatures from indoor to outdoor can make it feel worse as well. It is a season when we also need more hydration. Therefore, I would absolutely recommend this to yourself or to a dear one for a Christmas gift.
